Picture Galleries by Chris Thomerson: The Deer Harbor Wooden Boat Society: Deer Harbor on Orcas Island can be found on charts dating back to 1858. If yours are that old we hope you have newer ones to help you get here. We have been promoting the restoration, use and enjoyment of wooden boats ever since we can remember, which is getting shorter by the year. We are famous for our Annual Wooden Boat Rendezvous. Starting with a handful of boats it has grown to over 50 participating wooden hulls, power and sail. Our 2004 Rendezvous dinner fed 275 people enough food for about 400. We run an Annual International 6 Meter Race called the Boundary Cup, coming September and an Annual Schooner Race. This site is new. We are so busy preparing for the upcoming Annual Wooden Boat Rendezvous (see menu at left) we are giving that priority. We will beautify and expand the site for next year, in spare moments between working on boats. We have fun! Join us. |
